Simple and essential
Whether you’re wandering among the trees, joining a breathwork session, foraging wild food, or simply sitting in stillness by the lake, Ekamåla invites an easeful way of being. Not as a practice, but as a natural state you remember once the noise quiets down.
Our vision is to live close to nature, tending to the lake and land in a holistic and ecological way, while sharing its beauty with guests and volunteers.
Arnoud Klop made this wonderful TinyDocu about us, and he’ll be back in a few years for an update. He catches our vibe beautifully in the video. We are working on translations.
Ways to join & support us
We’re still at the beginning and there is a lot to do. From the start, we’ve chosen to work with the forest, not over it. Using natural clearings and existing pathways, we’re slowly shaping a part of the landscape to welcome humans, while honouring the wild soul of this place by allowing other parts to return to their natural diversity. We are learning and growing every day.

When we started, there were only trees. Since then, we have done a lot of work. We felled sick and dead trees, sew them into planks and built our own forestry shed from them. We created ‘base camp’ which in the warmer months bustles with energy from volunteers: young travelers who share our ideals and come to contribute to the project and learn new skills with us. We created forest paths and started laying the foundation for our yoga temple with amazing view on the lake. In late Summer 2025, we hope to receive our first paying guests… Maybe you? You are very welcome to get in touch!

We recently changed our name to Ekamåla Nature Retreat.
Eka (sanskrit): one, oneness, unity; måla (swedish): designated place.
This name honors the roots of the land, by using its historical name Ekamåla, and expresses the intention we have with it: to share our love for nature, simplicity and peace.
